Sumantra Bose is a comparative political scientist whose work focuses on the intersections of nationalism(s), democracy and conflict in South Asia, the Balkans and the Middle East. Born and raised in Calcutta, he graduated from Amherst College, Massachusetts in 1992 and received his PhD from Columbia University, New York in 1998. From January 2025, he is Professor of International and Comparative Politics at Krea University. Prior to that, he held a Chair at the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) for nearly two decades. Bose is the Director of the Netaji Research Bureau (NRB) at Netaji Bhawan, Kolkata.
