Mary Therese Kurkalang is an independent arts manager, cultural curator and social researcher. She has worked in the social sector, publishing industry and international culture exchange sector for three decades. Most recently, she co-founded the Rachna Books Writers Residency in Gangtok and is the lead consultant for The Himalayan Fellowship by Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art with Royal Enfield. She was Director of the first three editions of the Shillong Literary Festival (2021–2023), and Co-curator of the first edition of the ‘Journeying Across the Himalayas’ Exhibition in 2022.
Since 2012, her work spanning northeast India has included art, literature, translation, crafts, peace dialogue, and public and women’s health research. She works with individuals, communities, non-profits, think tanks, local governments, as well as national and international agencies.
